SEO for Veterinarians & Veterinary Practices

If your website isn’t bringing in new patients, it’s not earning its keep.

If any of those problems sound familiar, your website and search strategy may not be doing enough to support your practice’s growth.

Your Website Should Be Helping Your Practice Grow

Your website should be working for your practice around the clock. It should:

Improving those results takes more than a pretty website. Your site has to be easy to find, easy to use, bring in the right people, answer their questions, and make it easy for them to become clients. And that's the foundation of my approach to SEO and website development.

The WooWoo Approach™ to Veterinary SEO

My WooWoo Approach™ to veterinary SEO and website development starts with understanding your business, including:

Once I understand these, I'm able to create your custom SEO and website strategy designed to help you attain those goals and connect with the right clients. That means building a website that works for your practice now, while making sure it can keep up as the way people search continues to change.

SEO That Brings the Right People to Your Practice

Local Visibility

Whether you operate a veterinary practice, animal clinic, or animal hospital, you need to show up where nearby pet owners are actually looking. That includes Google Search, Google Maps, local results, and other places people use to find veterinary care in their area. I work to strengthen the signals that help search engines understand where you’re located, the areas you serve, and when your practice is relevant to a local search.

Service Visibility

Not every service you offer needs the same level of attention. If there are specific treatments, surgical procedures, specialties, or areas of veterinary medicine you want to grow, your website and search strategy should make those services easier to find. I look at how pet owners search for that care, then build visibility around the services that matter most to your clinic or hospital.

AI Visibility

People are increasingly asking ChatGPT, Siri, Google’s AI features, and other assistants where to find businesses and services. This is especially true for specialized veterinary medicine, surgical care, and other services that may require a more specific search. Your website needs to give those AI systems clear, accurate information about who you are, what you offer, where you are, and why your practice is relevant to someone’s search. The goal is to make your practice easier for both search and AI engines to understand, reference, and recommend.

Local Search Beyond Your Website

Your website is only one part of how search and AI engines understand your veterinary practice. I also look at the information about your business that appears across Google, directories, and other profiles so it stays accurate, consistent, and easy for both search engines and pet owners to trust.

This includes:

Website Structure and Content

A website visitor shouldn’t have to dig through your site to figure out what you do, whether you provide the service they need, who will be caring for their pet, or how to contact you. I organize your site so your services, specialties, locations and hours, qualifications, common questions, and next steps are easy to find and easy to understand.

Patient Portal & Pharmacy Integration

If your veterinary clinic or animal hospital already uses online tools for appointments, medical records, prescription requests, pharmacy orders, payments, or client communication, your website should make those tools easy to find and use.

I can connect the systems you already use — such as PetDesk, Vello, Otto, Vetsource, Vet2Pet, Covetrus, or another veterinary portal or pharmacy platform — so clients aren’t left hunting for the right link or calling your staff because they can’t find what they need.

Conversion

Getting the right people to your practice’s website is only half the job. Once they arrive, it should be easy for them to call your clinic, ask a question, or book an appointment. I look for places where website visitors may be getting stuck or dropping off and make those actions easier to find and use.

Real-World Results

Rankings and imressions can be useful, but they don’t tell you the whole story. I track the things that show whether your website is actually supporting the business: traffic, calls, questions, appointment activity, and other measurable leads.

Reports are delivered in plain English and explain what changed, what the data means, and what I’ll be working on next — whether that means continuing to strengthen a specific area, moving into the next phase of your strategy, or monitoring results to make sure the gains hold steady.

You won’t be left wondering what I’m doing on my end or whether the work is starting to pay off before you begin noticing that the phone is ringing more.

I Understand Both Sides of the Pet Care Relationship

I’ve been a pet parent for even longer than I’ve been an SEO professional — and I’ve been doing SEO for more than 25 years. I’ve also spent more than 15 of those years running a successful, reputable local pet sitting business as well as a nonprofit organization that helped pet owners get the care and resources their animals needed.

That gives me an unusual amount of overlap between the two worlds. I understand search, websites, and lead generation, but I also understand pet owners, the trust involved in choosing someone to care for an animal, and the kinds of questions and concerns that come with that responsibility.

I also know first-hand how pet owners search differently depending on what’s happening: routine care, a specific procedure, a new puppy, a senior pet, an urgent concern, a second opinion, specialty care, etc. And that those searches come with different questions, urgency, and trust concerns.

This perspective allows me to build a search and website strategy around more than just getting people to your site. I’m able to look at your website the way your ideal client will:

Frequently Asked Questions About Veterinary SEO

Will you need to rebuild my veterinary practice’s website?

Not necessarily. I can work with an existing website, and I’ll only recommend a redesign or rebuild if there’s a good reason for it.

Sometimes the website itself is part of what’s holding back your search visibility or making it harder for visitors to become clients. There are also website platforms that are proprietary to the company that built or manages them and can’t simply be transferred to another provider. If your site is tied to one of those systems, moving away from your current provider may require migrating the website to a new platform.

In that situation, it may make more financial and SEO sense to start fresh with a redesigned site rather than spend time and money trying to recreate an existing one. I’ll look at what you already have first and recommend the option that makes the most sense for your practice.

Can I, or my staff, make website updates?

I handle all of that for you. Since even small website changes can affect your SEO progress, I build routine updates into the SEO retainer. This way, there’s no worry about an innocent content change setting you back.

So, if something on the website needs to be corrected, updated, or removed, send it to me and I’ll take care of it for you.

Do you only work with veterinary practices in Nashville?

No. WooWoo WebWorks is based in Nashville, but I can work with veterinary practices throughout the United States.

Local SEO is still local to your practice. Your strategy is built around your location, the communities you serve, your local competitors, and how pet owners in your market are searching for veterinary care.

How much does SEO for a veterinary practice cost?

Every veterinary practice is different, and so are their goals, ideal clients, local competitive market, and current visibility challenges. That’s why I don’t offer a one-size-fits-all veterinary SEO package.

I take the time to understand your practice, what you want to accomplish, what’s already working, and where there are opportunities to improve. From there, I’ll recommend a strategy and provide a quote based on the work your practice actually needs.
