Frequently Asked Questions

SEO, AEO, GEO, and Web Design — Explained in Layman’s Terms

If you've been reading articles, watching videos, or talking with agencies, you've likely come away confused and overwhelmed by all of the tech jargon. But, I will always answer your questions with explanations that are clear and jargon-free. Here at WooWoo WebWorks, we leave the techy speak to the “other guys”.

Who is WooWoo WebWorks?

These are some of the most common questions people ask when they’re first getting to know WooWoo WebWorks.

Who owns WooWoo WebWorks?

WooWoo WebWorks is owned and operated by Sherry Anderson, who has been building websites and SEO strategies for businesses, artists, and independent professionals since 2000.

How did WooWoo WebWorks get its name?

The name comes from my husky, Nawla — that’s her in my logo. I call her my “WooWoo girl” because, like many huskies, she woo-woos instead of barking. She’s an incredibly loving and loyal companion, full of personality and joy. Despite facing health challenges throughout her life, she doesn’t let them slow her down — she just WooWoo’s her way through life, enjoying every moment. When I decided to rebrand my company in 2024 (formerly Anderson Web Design Group), I wanted to move away from an agency-sounding name and choose something that better reflected my love for the work I do and the relationships I build with my clients. WooWoo WebWorks felt like the perfect fit — a name that honors the dog who has taught me so much about life, and one that naturally embodies the spirit, care, and intention I bring to my work.

Do you only work with GoDaddy Website Builder or WordPress?

No. WooWoo WebWorks is not a GoDaddy or WordPress-only agency. Most WooWoo WebWorks websites are custom-built around the business, audience, SEO strategy, and long-term goals. I do work with GoDaddy Website Builder and WordPress when they are the right fit, especially when a client already has a site on one of those platforms that needs to be improved, cleaned up, or better optimized. The WooWoo Approach™ is based on choosing what best supports the business, not forcing every website into the same platform.

Can WooWoo WebWorks handle larger SEO or website projects?

Yes. WooWoo WebWorks is built to handle serious SEO and website projects with focused, senior-level attention. The difference is that the strategist is also the implementer, so the same person shaping the direction is also writing, structuring, building, reviewing, and adjusting the work. That keeps the process fluid, eliminates handoffs, and prevents the original strategy from getting watered down between departments. I’m happy to talk through your project, goals, and timeline to see whether WooWoo WebWorks is the right fit.

Do you only build websites, or do you also build custom web-based systems?

I build more than just websites. In addition to fully custom websites, I also build custom web-based systems when a business needs more than a standard site can provide. A good example is a custom system I built for Mountain Getaway Cabin Rentals. It includes a custom content management system and a backend management tool designed specifically around how they run their vacation rental business. The system was built long before today’s plug-and-play CMS platforms existed, so it was designed from the ground up to solve real operational needs. Everything is built to support real workflows and day-to-day operations, rather than forcing the business to adapt to off-the-shelf software.

What types of businesses do you work with?

WooWoo WebWorks works best with business owners who want to be understood by the right clients, not merely found by more people. Client capacity is intentionally limited because every strategy is personally developed with careful attention. I work with businesses that value discernment, honest communication, and long-term strategic thinking—the kind of clients who understand that better visibility begins with being worth finding.

Do you work with businesses where privacy matters?

Yes. When privacy matters, I keep the website focused on what it should safely do: explain the business, answer common questions, build trust, and guide visitors to the right next step. I don’t treat a regular website form like it’s a secure client or patient portal. When a business already uses a secure third-party system for scheduling, intake, client records, or account access, I incorporate clear links to that system so visitors know they are leaving the website and moving into the appropriate platform. You can read more about my privacy-related website practices in the user privacy FAQ section below.

Are you affiliated with WooCommerce?

No. WooWoo WebWorks is not affiliated with, partnered with, or endorsed by WooCommerce. WooWoo WebWorks is an independent SEO and web design company based in Nashville, TN, working with clients nationwide. I put almost three decades of experience to work for my clients — helping them gain real visibility that brings in qualified, paying customers.

Do you use AI to build websites?

No. I don’t use AI website builders or automated design tools. I build websites myself, using my understanding of SEO, structure and platform limitations. My clients hire me for that expertise — not to use tools they already have access to.

How Does WooWoo WebWorks Ensure User Privacy?

How do you handle links to client portals, scheduling tools, or secure intake systems?

When a business uses a separate system for scheduling, intake, client login, or account access, I link to it clearly instead of trying to recreate that functionality inside the website. For transparency, I make it clear when the visitor is being taken to a third-party system. An example is The Cooperative Canine’s client login link, which sends clients to their Gingr account instead of handling that login directly on the public website.

How do you handle websites for medical, legal, insurance, or other privacy-sensitive businesses?

For privacy-sensitive businesses, I keep the public website focused on general information, service details, trust-building content, and safe contact paths. Anything that involves sensitive client, patient, legal, financial, or account-specific information should be handled through the business’s approved secure system. My role is to structure the website so it supports that process clearly instead of creating unnecessary privacy risks.

Can you build a website without storing form submissions?

Yes. For custom websites I hand-code, form submissions do not have to be stored in the website database. When privacy is a concern, the form can be limited to basic contact information, or the website can direct visitors to the business’s secure intake, scheduling, portal, or communication system instead. My custom form handler also includes highly effective spam filtering logic, so forms can be protected without adding extra third-party tools. The point is to collect only what the website truly needs and send anything sensitive to the right place. The client always has the final choice on what data their website collects and stores.

Do you use third-party tracking scripts on privacy-sensitive websites?

No. I avoid unnecessary third-party scripts, pixels, and invasive tracking cookies because they can add code bloat and create privacy concerns. For custom websites I hand-code, tracking is handled through my own lightweight server-side code and limited to useful visitor and conversion insights. The client always has the final choice on whether tracking is included.

How do you handle visitor tracking for HIPAA-sensitive websites?

For healthcare and other HIPAA-sensitive businesses, this policy applies to custom-built websites on the WooWoo WebWorks system. On those sites, WooWoo WebWorks uses limited, first-party, server-side tracking for website performance, bot filtering, referrer reporting, and SEO strategy. I do not use unnecessary third-party tracking scripts, pixels, or invasive advertising cookies. For medical websites, WooWoo WebWorks’s analytics system does not store patient inquiry details or patient-identifying form submissions. Client-facing reports show cumulative website stats and do not expose visitor IP addresses or raw identifying session data. When lead capture, intake, scheduling, or patient communication is needed, those actions will be routed through the practice’s approved HIPAA-compliant platform instead of being stored in the public website database.

Do you recommend any Content Management System (CMS) platforms for HIPAA-sensitive websites?

No. For HIPAA-sensitive websites, I do not recommend using CMS platforms or third-party website builders. They often introduce extra security, plugin, update, login, theme, tracking, and third-party dependency risks that I prefer to avoid for healthcare and other privacy-sensitive businesses. For those projects, I recommend a custom-built website on the WooWoo WebWorks system, with sensitive actions routed through the practice’s approved HIPAA-compliant platform.

SEO Basics

What does “organic SEO” mean?

Organic SEO is the natural search visibility you earn without paying for ads. Google shows your website because it sees it as useful and relevant, not because of ad spend.

How can I tell the difference between paid ads and organic results?

Paid ads usually appear at the very top of the page and include a small “Sponsored” label. In more competitive searches, Google may show several ads at the top, a map pack (the local business listings in the map section of the page), and even more ads at the bottom — which means only a handful of true organic listings appear on page one. Organic results are the regular listings you see underneath the ads and the map pack. These are high-value spots earned naturally by being genuinely helpful and relevant — not by paying for placement.

What does “ranking” actually mean?

“Ranking” simply refers to where your website appears in Google’s search results for a specific search phrase, also called a keyword phrase. If your site shows up near the top of the page for a term people are actually searching for, that’s considered a strong ranking. The higher your ranking, the easier it is for people to find you. It’s also important to know that you don’t have one single ranking — your website can appear in different positions depending on the keyword phrase someone types into the search bar.

What does Google look for when deciding which sites to show?

Google wants to show people websites that clearly answer what they’re searching for. That means having helpful information, easy navigation, and pages that load quickly. It also means showing that you genuinely know your topic. When your website consistently explains what you do and how you help, Google starts to recognize you as a reliable source — and there’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work that I do to help make sure Google can connect those dots.

What is local SEO?

Local SEO focuses on helping your business appear in search results for people in your area. It tells Google where you’re located, what you offer, and which communities you serve. If most of your customers come from nearby neighborhoods or cities, local SEO is what helps those people find you. For example, my client Coat of Many Colors is a mobile dog grooming business without a physical storefront, but local SEO still helped her show up in the neighborhoods she serves — even when she was parked miles away. You can see the full story in her story.

The WooWoo Approach™ to Successful SEO

Do you use paid ads to get quick SEO results?

No. I don’t use paid ads to create “quick” SEO results. Everything you see in my client stories comes from organic visibility, not paid ads. When the goal is long-term SEO, I don’t believe in asking clients to spend money on ads that stop working the moment the budget runs out. Instead, I focus on building a website that explains your business clearly, makes sense to your visitors, and gives Google what it needs to understand who you help. That’s what leads to visibility that lasts — not temporary boosts that disappear as soon as the ads stop.

How long does it take to see results from SEO?

How long it takes to see results depends on your competition and your local market, but most of my clients begin noticing improvement within the first few months. That often looks like more people finding your website, more calls, more inquiries, or more online sales — real-world signs that things are moving in the right direction. SEO builds over time, so once that momentum starts, those early signs of movement can be measured and interpreted before they become final business outcomes.

How does The WooWoo Approach™ track real-world results?

On our custom-built websites, our reporting focuses on human visitors — not inflated traffic numbers. By filtering out known bots, crawlers, and automated traffic, we gain clearer insight into how real human activity, search visibility, and lead behavior fit together when measuring SEO progress. For websites built on third-party platforms, reporting is limited by what that platform allows.

What makes The WooWoo Approach™ more future-focused?

The WooWoo Approach™ is built around the parts of SEO that continue to matter as search changes: clear communication, useful content, human intent, local relevance, trust signals, and strong website structure. I do not chase quick tricks. I build SEO strategies that help your website make sense to people, search engines, and AI-driven search systems.

What’s the difference between SEO and paid ads?

Paid ads can place you at the top of the page, but only while your daily budget is still available. If someone searches for your services after that budget has been used up for the day, your business won’t show up in the ad section at all. Organic SEO doesn’t have that limitation — people can find you anytime because your visibility isn’t tied to a daily budget. Ads can help in short bursts, but SEO is what helps people find you naturally throughout the entire day.

Can you help me if I’ve already tried SEO before and didn’t see results?

Definitely. If past SEO efforts didn’t move the needle, it doesn’t mean SEO won’t work for you — it just means the strategy wasn’t aligned with your business. Every business is different, and your SEO strategy should fit your business — not the other way around.

What makes your SEO approach different?

I don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. I look at your specific business, what makes you unique, and what you want to achieve. From there, I build a tailored strategy that fits your situation instead of a generic plan. I also focus on something most SEO services overlook: the human experience. Getting people to your site is just one facet of The WooWoo Approach™. The part that turns that traffic into customers is their experience once they land on your site. When your website is user-friendly — easy to navigate, easy to read, and genuinely helpful — people stay long enough to take action. That “human optimization” is a big part of my process.

Is The WooWoo Approach™ related to spirituality, mysticism, or “woo-woo” philosophy?

No. The WooWoo Approach™ is not related to spirituality, mysticism, or “woo-woo” belief systems. The name is a personal brand reference, not a spiritual or mystical one. The WooWoo Approach™ is a practical, human-centered methodology for SEO and web design focused on real user behavior, clear communication, and measurable business outcomes. Any overlap in terminology is purely coincidental.

How My SEO Service Works

Do you offer ongoing monthly SEO or just one-time optimization?

Yes — I offer both one-time and monthly SEO support. Each works differently depending on your goals. If you’re weighing the options, feel free to contact me and I can help talk it through so you can choose what fits your business best.

If you’ve received professional SEO quotes that are more than your business can responsibly justify right now, you may also want to look at the WooWoo WebWorks Professional SEO Access Program

What does your SEO service actually include?

Because every business has different goals, competition levels, and challenges, I don’t use a one-size-fits-all SEO package. Instead, I tailor the work to what your website actually needs. That can include improving your page structure, tightening up your content, fixing technical issues, optimizing for local searches, or strengthening how clearly your site communicates what you do. If you’d like a more detailed look at how my SEO and AEO/GEO process works, you can read the full breakdown on my SEO Services page.

Can I edit my own website content?

If your website is built in WordPress or GoDaddy Website Builder, you can update your own content. However, if your website is part of an active SEO strategy, self-managed changes can unintentionally weaken rankings or undo optimization work. Custom-coded websites are maintained exclusively by WooWoo WebWorks and are not designed for client editing, ensuring the site’s security, performance, and SEO structure remain intact.

How do you optimize for the “New Google” search experience?

I optimize for the “New Google” search experience by focusing on clarity, structure, and helpful content. Your website needs to clearly explain who you are, what you do, who you help, where you work, and what makes your business different. That matters for traditional Google search, Google’s AI Overviews, and other answer-based search tools because they all need clear, trustworthy information before they can understand when your business is the right fit.

Do you optimize for AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Siri, Gemini, and other answer engines?

Yes — but not by chasing gimmicks or trying to “trick” AI tools. My approach is to strengthen the same signals that help both people and search engines understand your business: clear service pages, helpful answers, strong internal structure, local relevance, and content that reflects your real expertise. The goal is to make your business easier to find and easier to understand wherever people are searching.

Do you use third-party SEO tools to decide what my website needs?

No — I do not use third-party SEO tools, automated audits, or generic software recommendations. I use my own experience, hands-on review, and professional discernment to build a forward-thinking strategy based on what your website needs and where your business needs to go next. I look at your actual website, your business goals, your competitors, your service areas, who your ideal customers are, and what they’re really looking for. That same hands-on approach also guides my WooWoo Website Checkup SEO Audits, where I review how well your current website supports your goals and future search visibility.

Do you follow Google’s SEO guidelines?

Yes — my SEO work is based on helping Google and real people better understand your website, not trying to manipulate search results. I focus on clear content, accurate information, helpful structure, technical cleanup, local relevance, and honest optimization practices. I also avoid promises that no SEO can honestly make, like guaranteed rankings or guaranteed revenue.

Do you help with Google Business Profile (GBP) setup and optimization?

Yes — I can help you with your Google Business Profile. GBP plays a big role in local SEO for service-area businesses, but it can also be sensitive to certain types of updates. My approach is to review what you have, identify what’s safe to adjust, and provide guidance based on what typically works well — without making changes that could cause unnecessary disruptions.

Is SEO a one-time project or an ongoing effort?

SEO isn’t a single “set it and forget it” project. Your website will see a noticeable boost after the initial optimization work, but what people search for — and how they search — changes over time. Your competitors change things too, and Google regularly updates how it chooses which sites to show. Some businesses only need a solid setup and occasional tune-ups. Others benefit from steady, ongoing support — it depends on your goals and how competitive your space is. But in general, SEO works best as an ongoing effort because the online landscape never stays still.

How do you measure SEO success?

I measure success by the things that matter in the real world — not just charts and numbers. When SEO is working, you’ll notice more people finding you, more inquiries, more sales and bookings, and more of the right visitors landing on your site. Behind the scenes, I look at how your visibility improves in Google search and Google’s AI Overviews, and I also pay attention when customers tell you they found you through tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity. In short: success isn’t just higher rankings — it’s being discoverable wherever people are searching and seeing that visibility turn into real customers.

Do you guarantee first-page rankings?

No — and I would be cautious of anyone who does. No SEO controls Google’s search results, so I cannot honestly guarantee a specific ranking. What I can do is improve the things that help your website compete: clearer content, stronger structure, better local signals, technical improvements, and a strategy built around how your ideal customers are actually searching.

Do you offer an ROI guarantee?

No — because revenue is influenced by factors beyond search visibility. My role is to help your business get found by the right people, drive qualified traffic to your website, and build a site designed to turn that traffic into leads. Once someone calls, fills out a form, or reaches out, the final revenue outcome depends on things like pricing, follow-up speed, sales conversations, and customer experience.

How do you make SEO results transparent?

I focus on measurable visibility and real-world lead activity, not vanity metrics. For custom websites I hand-code, I can include my own proprietary server-side visitor and conversion tracking, built to measure useful activity without relying on GA4, heavy third-party scripts, or invasive tracking cookies. It gives business owners clearer insight into real human visitors, the pages they viewed, how long they stayed, and whether they took action to contact the business.

Do you offer any discounts?

I don’t offer blanket discounts on SEO services, but I do offer the WooWoo WebWorks Professional SEO Access Program for a limited number of qualifying businesses. If you’ve received a recent professional SEO proposal but the monthly investment is more than your business can responsibly justify right now, you may be eligible for a reduced first-year rate through the Program.

Is SEO Right for My Business?

What type of businesses benefit most from SEO?

Most businesses benefit from SEO because almost everyone starts their search online. Whether you run a local service business, offer professional services, sell products, work in a creative field, or serve clients nationwide, SEO helps the people who are already looking for what you offer actually find you. The goal is to be found where your ideal customers are already searching.

What if I know I need professional SEO, but the cost is more than my business can afford right now?

Professional SEO can be worth the investment and still be more than your business can responsibly commit to right now. That’s exactly why I created the WooWoo WebWorks Professional SEO Access Program. If you’ve received a recent professional SEO proposal but the monthly investment is outside what makes sense for your business right now, you may be eligible for a reduced first-year rate through the Program.

I’m not tech-savvy. Will SEO changes break my website?

No — you don’t need to be tech-savvy, and nothing I do will break your website. My SEO work stays safely within the structure of your existing site, and I handle everything on the technical side for you. Most changes are behind-the-scenes improvements that help your site make more sense to both Google and your visitors. You won’t need to manage anything yourself, and your website will continue working exactly as it should — just with better visibility.

Can SEO help me if my website was built on GoDaddy or WordPress?

Yes — both GoDaddy Websites + Marketing and WordPress work very well with the type of SEO and AEO/GEO optimization I do. Whether your site is on GoDaddy or WordPress, I can improve your structure, wording, layout, and technical setup directly on either platform without needing to rebuild your site. If your website is on one of these systems, you’re already in great shape for effective SEO.

Do I need to write blogs for SEO to work?

No — your website can rank well without a blog. Blogging can work alongside your on-site SEO, but it isn’t required for SEO to be effective. Because answer engines (like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google’s AI Overviews) often pull from helpful, question-focused content, well-written blog posts can increase your chances of being mentioned when people ask those tools for recommendations. If you enjoy writing but struggle with ideas, I can help create a content plan that supports your SEO and AEO. And if you prefer to hand it off, I also offer blog management services — from researching topics to writing the articles for you. Blogging isn’t essential, but it can make your SEO and AEO work even better.

Can you optimize my existing website without rebuilding it?

Often, yes — I can improve the SEO on your existing website without rebuilding it. It really depends on how the site was originally built and what’s holding it back. In many cases, the foundation is workable, but it still needs meaningful improvements to help search engines and real people understand it better. In other cases, the platform or layout may be limiting what’s possible, and a rebuild becomes the more effective — and ultimately, the more affordable — long-term option. Either way, I’ll review what you already have and recommend the approach that gets you the strongest results without unnecessary expense.

Local & Nationwide SEO Questions

Do you work with clients outside of Nashville?

Yes — absolutely. I work with clients all over the country, not just here in Nashville. I’ve partnered with businesses in busy urban markets, rural communities, and hyper-local neighborhood service areas across different states. Whether a client serves a single local area or operates nationwide, I tailor the SEO and web design to match their audience and location goals. If you’d like to see the variety of places my clients are based, you’re welcome to browse my client stories — they highlight the businesses I’ve worked with across local, regional, and national markets.

Can local SEO help my business rank in Nashville neighborhoods?

Yes — local SEO can absolutely help your business show up in specific Nashville neighborhoods. When your website clearly signals the areas you serve — like East Nashville, The Gulch, Donelson, Sylvan Park, or Franklin — Google is better able to match you with people searching in or for those exact spots. I shape your content and structure to highlight the neighborhoods most relevant to your business so you can be discovered by the customers closest to you.

How does SEO help local service businesses?

SEO helps local service businesses by making sure the people in your area can actually find you when they need what you offer. When your website clearly explains your services, shows proof of your work, and highlights the neighborhoods you serve, Google is far more likely to match you with nearby customers. That means more calls, more bookings, and more visibility in the exact parts of town where you want to grow.

Are you familiar with local search ranking factors in Nashville?

Yes — I’m very familiar with the local search factors that matter in Nashville. I’ve lived and worked here for almost 30 years, helping businesses improve their visibility across neighborhoods like Bellevue, Madison, Crieve Hall, Opryland, SoBro, and Green Hills. Each area has its own search patterns and local signals, and I understand how to align your website with what works best in this market.

Does my phone number affect local SEO?

A local number isn’t required to rank locally, but it can help reinforce your connection to the area. If you’re choosing a new business number, selecting a familiar local area code can offer a small boost in both consumer trust and local relevance.

Can you help my business expand its reach beyond my local area?

Yes — I can. SEO isn’t limited to nearby customers. If your business needs visibility in other cities, across your state, nationwide, or even worldwide, I can build a strategy that supports that broader reach. Some businesses focus on local neighborhoods, while others — like Precise Syntax — are built for national or global audiences from day one. If you’d like to see an example of how that works in real life, you can check out Precise Syntax’s client story. Whatever your goals are, I tailor your SEO so you’re found by the people you want to reach, wherever they are.

Content Writing Services

Content writing is often the part of building a website that feels the most overwhelming for people. These questions come up a lot, and they’re completely normal.

Do I have to write my own website content?

Not if you don’t want to. When it comes to content writing, you have a few options — and you can choose what feels most comfortable for you:

1) I write the content for you. This is the most common choice. I handle the writing so you don’t have to worry about where to start or how to phrase things.

2) You provide rough drafts, notes, or existing content. I’ll refine and optimize it for SEO while keeping your voice, tone, and message fully intact.

3) You write all of your content. I’ll apply light SEO optimization to make sure it’s clear to search engines and AI, without changing how it reads to real people.

There’s no right or wrong option — just what works best for you.

How can you write content that sounds like me?

That comes from how you already talk about your business. As we discuss your website and SEO goals, I’m listening to how you describe what you do, what you care about, and how you help people. That naturally shapes the tone and voice of the content. The goal isn’t to make your website sound “marketed” — it’s to make it sound like a clear, confident version of you. That’s why the content feels natural and authentic, not generic or templated.

How do you know what my business does well enough to write about it?

That understanding comes from a combination of research and context. I start by learning how your business fits into its industry — what you offer, how people search for it, and what problems typically lead someone to your website. That research is paired with what I already know about your specific business and goals from our initial consultation. Together, that gives me what I need to write accurate, relevant content. You’ll always have a chance to review it for accuracy, and nothing is published without your approval.

Do I have to write a blog?

No. A blog is never required. Some businesses benefit from blogging, and others don’t. If a blog makes sense for your goals, we’ll talk about it. If it doesn’t, your website can still be very effective without one. If you do decide to have a blog, I can help with topic ideas, content planning, or full blog writing — whichever level of support you prefer.

Do you use AI to write website or blog content?

No. I don’t use AI to write website or blog content. When I write content, it’s written by me. That’s because clarity, accuracy, and voice matter — and those come from understanding a real business, not from auto-generated text. AI tools can be helpful for research or organizing ideas, but the writing itself is human-led. That’s how the content stays authentic, accurate, and aligned with your business — and why it performs better with both search engines and real people.

Why does website content matter so much?

For most people, your website content is the first real conversation they have with your business. It usually starts with a search result — a short snippet that speaks to a problem they’re trying to solve. If they click through, the content on your website needs to continue that conversation. It should make them feel understood, not talked at. When content clearly reflects the needs, concerns, and motivations of the people you want to reach, it does more than inform — it builds trust and confidence that you are the solution to their problem. This creates the human connection, which is an integral part of my WooWoo Approach™ to SEO, and it’s what turns visitors into inquiries, and inquiries into real customers.
